Dr. Cohen has ample experience working with addictions, both substance and behavioral, using pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy tailored to address individual patient needs. Dr. Cohen has treated substance abuse in the hospital, emergency room, military, and in outpatient settings (private office).
In addition, Dr. Cohen is certified to provide the latest treatments using Suboxone (buprenorphine) to treat opioid dependancy.
Suboxone was approved for clinical use in 2002 and works to prevent and reduce withdrawal symptoms in order to eliminate opioid abuse in patients. When taken as prescribed and with the aid of therapy, Suboxone is a safe and effective manner to treat opioid addiction.
Dr. Cohen is also experienced in treating alcohol dependence, including the use of medications to reduce alcohol cravings and treat underlying anxiety and depression.
